Adding to the volume of good: Spreading the love

Each week we highlight restaurants demonstrating truth and love with amazing, inspiring and selfless acts that make the world just that little bit better

  • NOON All Day (San Francisco, USA): This Californian restaurant hosts an annual Farmers & Ranchers Appreciation Luncheon where they close the restaurant, cook a special meal for their purveyors and enjoy each other’s company.

  • The Breakfast Club (London, UK): The Breakfast Club runs textile classes for refugee women, cookery workshops for people in recovery and pensioner get-togethers within their café space.

  • Pou Restaurant and Bar (Siem Reap, Cambodia): This Cambodian eatery founded Asian Street Food Cambodia (ASFC), a community of chefs that meets regularly to explore, cook and promote Cambodian street food, workshop new techniques, unearth obscure dishes and hold pop-up events that give Cambodian street food a creative, modern twist.

  • Actinolite Restaurant (Toronto, Canada): To ensure staff are nourished and energized, Actinolite Restaurant provides a healthy staff meal before every service.

  • Alphabet Café (West End, Australia): Queensland’s Alphabet Café provides a basket for customers to donate toiletries and sanitary items, which are collected for Share the Dignity Australia, a non-profit organization that supports homeless women and women who have suffered from domestic violence.

  • Basic Kitchen (Charleston, USA): Once a month Basic Kitchen offers a five-day guided cleanse for their customers to help them refresh and reset. The cleanse gives a break from caffeine, dairy, gluten and meat, as well as offers the option to add on a daily workout class tailored to what the body needs specific to the cleanse, and/or an in-home massage to take the detox and refresh concept even further.
