Marjorie Ross is an award-winning Costa Rican food historian and critic, human rights lawyer, freelance writer and reporter with over forty-five years’ experience in research, writing, and journalism. She has authored several books on gastronomy and culinary history, as well as poetry, literary non-fiction, and non-fiction. She is Costa Rica's most respected food critic, writing restaurant reviews for many years under the pseudonym Escargot and for the last ten years under her own name. She writes for La Nación newspaper's supplement Áncora, for El Financiero (from Costa Rica), and for American Airlines' magazine Nexos.
