Writer and food journalist Robbie Swinnerton has lived in Japan and written about its food culture for more than thirty-five years. His restaurant column, "Tokyo Food File", has run in the Japan Times since 1998. He resides in Kamakura, where he makes umeboshi each summer and premium kombu-katsuobushi dashi almost daily.
