“We’re serious about serving great quality food and local real ales with friendly service. We source local fresh produce and grow our own vegetables, herbs, and berries in the garden. In March 2018, we banned all plastic straws and stirrers. Our new policy is to reduce consumption by only giving a paper/PLA straw when requested. We used our excess plastic straws to create two rowing boats, Cambridge and Oxford, which we raced over The Tickell pond to draw awareness to the issue of single-use plastics. Our team is enthusiastic about making our business a more sustainable one, and about supporting local community causes.”
The Feather Bowl: quinoa, avocado, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, sunflower and pumpkin seeds, lemon and chilli dressing; whole lemon sole with crushed potatoes, kale, caper, and lemon butter; and sirloin steak with chips, chargrilled shallots, tomatoes, and sauce.
A lovely, bright, clean old pub five miles from Cambridge with plenty of local ales and excellent modern British food, The Tickell Arms has recently embarked on a pilot corporate partnership with Greener Growth, a community-interest company that helps neglected areas become foodproducing and biodiversity-enhancing. Greener Growth helps keep the Tickell garden at its best year round, with a focus on edible produce, giving employees a chance to get out in the fresh air, while learning about nature, health, and wellbeing. Produce from the vegetable patch is used in the restaurant or shared with the community.
