“At The Seahorse we cook our super fresh, just-caught seafood over the coals, taking special care with the provenance of our ingredients and keeping simplicity and attention to detail in our cooking. Sustainability is part of our DNA and not an add-on. It’s just what we do. We’ve created a relaxing cosy space here in our little Devon sanctuary – so that it feels like walking into a good friend’s house, warm and relaxing, where you know the food, drink, and company are going to be memorable.”
Local cuttlefish in ink with soft polenta; Dover sole cooked whole with lemon and olive oil over fire; and scallops roasted in the shell with white port and garlic.
The turbot cooked here on the Josper grill not long after it opened remains one of the most memorable things we’ve ever put in our mouths. The atmosphere on a dark evening when the wind whips in off the harbour and good wine is being drunk with great cooking is second to none.
“It’s manna from Devon ... this corking quayside restaurant might be the best in Britain.”
