“Good quality, sustainably sourced, honest food. We’re constantly striving to put fish and chips at the forefront of people’s minds as an option for fast food. We want to educate people about the nutritional qualities of Britain’s favourite dish and we’re passionate about our ingredients, their provenance, and their preparation. We’re also dedicated to supporting our local suppliers and businesses wherever possible. We won’t compromise on quality, though, so if we have to travel further afield to get the right product, we will. All our seafood is MSC- certified and our specials always reflect the seasons. We have vegan and gluten-free options, too.”
Cod and chips; halloumi fries; and deep fried asparagus.
This big, American-diner-style fish and chip shop is just the last thing you’d expect to find on the edge of the Cotswolds, about as far in Britain as you can get from the sea. But it is wonderful. The Cheltenham branch was the first MSC-certified chip shop in Gloucestershire, which led to a flurry of other outlets following suit – we love people who lead the way and the new shop in Stroud not only became the one hundredth MSC-certified fish and chip shop in the UK but has been endorsed by PETA for its vegan-friendly menu. Simpsons also does wonderful things for the local community – such as a “senior meal deal” – which gives this very forwardthinking restaurant a wonderfully old-fashioned feel.
