“At Longsands we are passionate about sourcing the finest locally-caught seafood and shellfish and pairing it with seasonal ingredients. We build amazing relationships with all our suppliers to ensure the best sustainable and growing practices are carried out as we try to build a more sustainable business for years to come.
“We have worked tirelessly to change all our packaging to compostable and biodegradable to reduce plastic in our seas. We work closely with Surfers Against Sewage to promote Tynemouth as a plastic-free coastline. We were the second coastal community in the country to achieve this and, as an ambassador for it, we really do help and support other businesses in making changes, helping to protect – and reduce plastic in – our oceans.”

We love the journey these guys have been on for the last three years, first opening a restaurant then gradually changing so many of their daily working practices towards sustainability and the environment, making themselves, in their words, “a far better business for it“.
