The Kingham Plough

What they say

“Our aim is for you to have a delicious dinner in a lovely atmosphere and, if possible, stay upstairs. Locality is hugely important – we take great pride in our ingredients and know all of our suppliers from meat to salad leaves, game to fish. Being a village pub, community is very important to us and as well as employing many people from the village, we also support the village school and nursery. Many of our artisans are very small and will only work with fellow small local farmers – our egg supplier takes such good care of his chickens he actually lives in a mobile home amongst them.”

Signature Dishes

Roast chicken and St George’s terrine; duck breast with confit duck pie, chargrilled duck heart pie, hispi cabbage, and rosemary; and rhubarb and stem ginger panna cotta.

What we say

The late, great A. A. Gill once wrote that The Kingham Plough set the gold standard for all pubs. And he didn’t even like the Cotswolds! It is hard to see why when visiting a village as pretty and well-served by great food and drink as Kingham. Emily Watkins is a masterful chef with a brilliant touch for both fine dining and folksier styles and her restaurant has become a foodie Mecca over the years, holding its position near the top despite the recent explosion of fantastic food pubs in the area.
