“Our love is for creative food, authentic people, and inspiring nature. We try to combine these three things with all the love, skills, and talents we possess, without undue fuss. The main idea behind the Priona Gardens for the past thirty years has been to cooperate with nature. That belief is the foundation for the restaurant: every plate is a testimony to the power, diversity, and taste of nature. We work hard to show our guests the beauty of nature, the power of creativity, and the amazing inspiration of passionate people. We hope to instill the wonder and admiration we feel for the world around us in every guest that visits our restaurant.”
Asparagus soup with elderflower foam; stewed lamb’s neck with edible flowers and broad beans; and grilled red bell pepper with magnolia flowers, strawberry, and chocolate.
Imagine sitting in a glass house, surrounded by flowers and lush green plants. That is how one dines at De Tuinkamer. The restaurant is in the middle of the Priona Tuinen, a world-famous demonstration garden that exemplifies the Dutch Wave in gardening culture: working with nature. During the summer months, Chef Alwin Leemhuis operates a restaurant in a greenhouse accessible only by foot through the gardens.
“A no-nonsense restaurant between ponds and butterflies. Alwin Leemhuis makes grateful use of the herbs, flowers and other details that the peaceful garden offers him.”
