The Whitehouse Restaurant

What they say

“At The Whitehouse, we absolutely love serving the best local food with heart and innovation. We’ve created a relaxed and welcoming place for all to feast on our local produce. In 2017, we radically redesigned our menu to cut food waste to an absolute minimum (our chickens eat all non-protein waste and everything that can be composted is). We grow most of our herbs and salad leaves, keep our own chickens, and support local allotment surplus when we can.”

Signature Dishes

Pressed oak-smoked Mull hough with Mike’s pickles, Lochaline lochside wild garlic, and piccalilli; sea water-poached Gigha halibut with wormwood and beach fennel pollen; and Frozen Ardtornish raspberry Bellini with Botanist’s gin, house-made raspberry sorbet, champers, and raspberry foam.

What we say

Lochaline is a very remote community consisting of about 180 residents. The Whitehouse is twenty-five miles down a single-track road on the coast overlooking the Isle of Mull. As well as serving incredible dishes, the restaurant works closely with the community, only employing local staff and providing training to encourage confidence and ensure customers are provided with the ultimate experience. They have also worked with the local high school and provided practical work experience for young staff on hospitality courses. For delicious, fresh and exciting fare that aids the community and does its bit to help the environment, a visit to The Whitehouse hits the spot.
