What we say

A true pioneer in Detroit’s baking community, Avalon International Breads is a socially responsible bakery, serving freshly baked breads and sweets made with 100 percent organic flour since it opened in 1997. Co-founder Jackie Victor calls the bakery a gathering place for the community, and says they aspire to make every person who walks through the door feel welcome. You can’t help but feel good after digging into one of their sourdough breads, hearty sandwiches and soups or famous sea salt chocolate chip cookies.

Those positive vibes carry through to Avalon’s work helping other independent local businesses develop a customer base and establish themselves. On top of this, they support countless Detroit area organizations, and have a diverse staff trained to further their goal to feed Detroit’s heart and soul.
