Adding to the Volume of Good: Farm to Table

Each week we highlight restaurants demonstrating truth and love with amazing, inspiring and selfless acts that make the world just that little bit better.

  1. Maxwell Restaurant (McLaren Vale, Australia): This South Australia restaurant features a fifty-metre hand-dug limestone cave on its property, which is used to grow mushrooms that are served on the menu.

  2. Granor Farm (Michigan, USA): Granor Farm , a certified organic farm in Three Oaks, hosts an annual Farm Camp for children, where they can interact with the garden, engage in art activities that are based around nature, and cook produce grown in the children's garden.

  3. Arpège (Paris, France): Arpège delivers vegetable baskets around Paris as a way of transmitting a love of good produce to inspire inspiring home cooks and provide families with organic, seasonal produce.

  4. Arbour (Blenheim, New Zealand): Blenheim restaurant Arbour holds an annual event called Gumboot Epicurean, where guests are put on buses and taken to meet different producers and try their food, all without being told anything in advance.

  5. El Beir, Arts and Seeds (Bethlehem, Palestine): Palestinian restaurant El Beir, Arts and Seeds’ Food Forest program educates participants first-hand on how to produce their own food in their backyards, and in a way that works with nature.

  6. Bean & Wheat (London, UK): Bean & Wheat runs an initiative called People’s Produce, where customers are encouraged to bring produce from their own gardens that would otherwise be thrown away. The chefs use these ingredients to make a delicious meal, which is then given back to the customer as well as being sold in the restaurant.
