Turl Street Kitchen

What they say

“Sourcing locally, working with local suppliers, being creative, and providing a laid-back, enjoyable experience for our customers is our passion. Our menus change weekly but we often source meat from Sandy Lane Farm, such as pork belly, and have that on the menu. Our vegetable tagine makes a regular appearance and we have a vegan full English on the menu permanently, an acknowledgment of the high number of vegetarians and vegans here in Oxford! We reduce food waste as much as possible within the kitchen itself, using what we can in the dishes, and any food waste produced is collected via the council food waste collection, not going into landfill. A third of our lunch and dinner menus are vegetarian and vegan and we also have permanent vegetarian and vegan dishes on our breakfast menu. We bottle our water in-house and use green energy throughout the building.”

What we say

The Turl Street Kitchen is a lovely, relaxed, youthful canteen with impeccable local and sustainable-sourcing credentials, comfy pricing, and a pretty, historic location. The mazy old building (for many years a curry house) has been stripped back and lightened up and filled with nice young quasi-hipsters pushing a very small, very smart menu that changes twice daily. The Sandy Lane faggots and sausages were exceptional and the steamed ginger pudding with lemon custard a dessert for the ages.
