“Looking after people and allowing them to have a good time is important to us, as is serving really good, honest food in a beautiful environment. Ultimately, enabling people to enjoy their time here. We always buy locally where possible. It makes good sense to us on so many levels. Most importantly, it means that we can develop relationships with local producers who come to know about our standards and expectations. We have a fantastic veg supplier less than two miles from the pub and a lot of the beef that we serve is raised in the fields surrounding the pub.”
Scotch egg, made with locally sourced organic egg, pork mince, and black pudding; Chicksgrove home-salted beef with root vegetable hash, spinach, fried egg, and horseradish cream; and roasted hake fillet with risotto nero, mussels, and gremolata.
A beautiful pub in the heart of fantastic walking country that is dog-friendly and human-adoring. One of the coolest things they do is to offer customers a “Barter Board” accepting fish (trout) that people have caught locally, game that is shot during the season, and vegetables that the neighbours have grown in return for food and drink. An inn with such good food and such great vibes that is well on the way to abolishing money – that is surely the Arcadian dream in the heart of every true believer.
