Common Roots Cafe

What they say

“We opened our restaurant in 2007 as an expression of our values in action. From the beginning, the idea was to create a socially responsible business that actively and continually supported local farmers, put environmental stewardship in the forefront of every decision, created a fair and supportive workplace for our staff, and intentionally built a community gathering place in a location that serves as the cross section for diverse and growing neighborhoods. Also, we track all the sourcing and report by dollars spent.”

Signature Dishes

Bagels made in-house daily made using local and organic ingredients; wild rice burger; organic cauliflower seasoned with a light curry spice, roasted, and served with a local yogurt tahini sauce.

What we say

The founder of the national “Hate Has No Business Here” movement, Common Roots, has made a name for itself as an intentional business leading the way nationally in diverse realms of ethical behavior, including fair wages for staff, local sourcing, supporting small organic farms, supporting immigrant communities and immigrant community farms – we could go on. Most significantly, Common Roots is a place to go when you want a delicious grass-fed latté and a beautiful caramel roll, and you want to be sure that your money is doing the most good it could possibly do.
