“Rather than being a vegetarian restaurant, Ceremony is a restaurant that just happens to be vegetarian. We place equal importance on great food and drinks, including an inventive cocktail menu plus thoughtfully curated wine list. While we are certainly passionate about vegetables, we are also passionate about flavour, and treat our produce with the same reverence a chef would meat. Most of our sustainable practices are tied in with our other practices: using veg from our garden, seasonal produce, reducing single-use plastic, composting, and working with local suppliers to reduce our carbon footprint.”
Crispy duck egg with shaved hard cheese, asparagus and truffle; linguine with pesto of wild garlic, rocket, cashew and goat’s curd; Eton mess with strawberry meringue, Chantilly cream and lemon balm.
You would never know this was a vegetarian restaurant if nobody told you. The vibes are so lively, the cocktails so beautiful, the menu so gutsy and wide-ranging, and the dishes so deep and hefty, that it just wouldn’t occur to you. Eggs and dairy feature heavily to create backgrounds against which the vegetables can really sing. Ali and Joe come from a booze background – she is the queen of the London beer scene, he is probably the best young cocktail maker in England – and they just went at this place hammer and tongs from the outset. Ceremony is a shining beacon of joy in once-drab Tufnell Park.
