“We celebrated our fiftieth anniversary in 2017 and are the oldest vegetarian restaurant in the UK (and possibly the longest-standing vegetarian fine dining house in Europe). Manna has been exclusively 100 per cent vegan for over a decade, serving plant-based and nutritious cuisine that nourishes a community and a string of excellent suppliers.”
Black quinoa maki rolls in the Japanese tradition; Caribbean platter: array of coconut-based broths and aromatic Jamaican delicacies; and bangers and mash: organic seed sausages with root vegetable and herb mash, and rich jus topped with sweet and tender glutenfree onion rings.
While Primrose Hill has changed beyond all recognition over the past twenty years, transforming into a super-fashionable film set of a place inhabited mostly by the staff of the Russian, French, and American ex-pats who don’t actually live in the houses they’ve bought, with endless posh delicatessens and coffee shops, Manna has remained unchanged. There it is, still there after celebrating its fiftieth anniversary in 2017, tucked away off the Main Street in leafy and exclusive Primrose Hill. Vegetarian since the beginning, Manna has now been fully vegan for over a decade serving simple but elegant traditional, international recipes somewhat from a Californian perspective.
“The knockout dish ... was a delicious special of aubergine wraps with almond cheese.” Time Out
